Day 3 Palmyra/Niagara Falls/Buffalo

We woke up fairly early on Monday because we planned on going through a session in the Palmyra temple at 8:30 am, but as mentioned before, we needed to go recapture some pictures at the Hill Cumorah and Visitor’s Center.

When we visited the Visitor’s Center the first time, we had a Sister Missionary bring us into the room with the Christus and play the message of Christ for us. She told us to pay attention to the feelings that came to us as we heard the message and after it finished playing she asked if there was anything that we wanted to share. While looking at the statue of the Savior and hearing his beckoning to come unto Him I imagined what it would be like to be in His presence and feel His loving embrace. There was an unexplainable feeling that filled me with peace and joy. I had a similar experience this summer while alone at my aunt and uncle’s house in Pittsburgh. I was given great comfort and the ability to sleep.

The Palmyra Temple is a small temple compared to others, but it was very beautiful. All of the outside windows are stain glass of the Sacred Grove except for one window. This window is called the clear window and it faces the actual Sacred Grove. It was a beautiful area to visit and we enjoyed serving in the temple.

After the temple we headed off to Niagara Falls. We planned on just going to a couple of sites there, but when we arrived we got caught up in all the excitement and signed up with a tour company. All in all it was a wonderful time, but we think that if we would have spent more time looking at different tours or stuck to our original plan we would have saved a little money. We went to the whirlpool (which is just downstream from the falls), on the Maid of the Mist, on the Observation Deck, to the Cave of the Winds, and stood right next to both falls on the American side and by Horse Shoe Falls on the Canadian side. I think that the pictures speak for themselves, so enjoy!

After our Niagara Adventure and on our way to Erie, PA to get some shut eye, Matthew and I passed through Buffalo, NY and stopped for some authentic buffalo wings at the restaurant that originally made them…they were magnomenal (magnificent and phenomenal).

After the wings Matthew and I head to Erie, PA to crash for the night and we were lucky enough to get to stay at Liz's sister-in-law's home. It was very comfy.
