Bite of Seattle

At work this week I was told about all the different festivals that go on at the Seattle City Center, so I decided to do some research and find out what was happening this weekend. When I found out that it was a food festival called,"Bite of Seattle," I knew I had to convince another couple to come with us. What's more fun than eating good food? Eating good food with friends!!!

On our first Sunday in Seattle I sat by a girl named Steph in Relief Society, and it just so happened that Matthew sat by her husband Jack, in Priesthood. Since then we have attempted to hang out with them, but we haven't had much time to do so, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to get together and get to know each other better.

We carpooled to downtown Seattle and had an enjoyable afternoon. We started off by heading towards something they called "The Alley" which was a group of seven restaurants with small samples of their food. Instead of paying for each dish separately like at most other booths, we paid one price for a bite from each place. After looking at the selection, Matthew decided he wanted to try it, but the rest of us wanted to explore other options. So, while Matthew waited in line, Jack, Steph and I decided to wander in search of that bite of food that was calling for us.

Jack and Steph heard the Cobb calling. Matthew's tour of "The Alley" left him wanting more. And I searched, but was unsure of what was worth sinking my teeth into.

As we continued our wanderings we came upon an elephant ear, a mountain of curly fries, funnel cake, a dingleberry, hot wings, mango lemonade, gator on a stick and gyros. This just included the food! (not all the above mentioned food was consumed by the four members mentioned, but at one point in the wanderings, these foods left an impression)

We also enjoyed the ever changing Seattle weather, a totem pole with a strange figure in the back, a modern fountain and the backdrop of the Space Needle.

We learned that Steph really likes corn, Matthew would rather be rained on then seen with a polka dot umbrella, Kara likes dingleberries when they involve strawberries, chocolate and whip cream and Jack doesn't seem to do or say anything embarrassing, unlike the rest of us!

All in all it was a fun day, creating the beginning of a friendship with Jack and Steph and eating some familiar and not so familiar foods.

  1. Oh yeah, that's how we met! (I never can remember.) That was a fun day! We have also learned since then we just have to be patient when it comes for Jack to do something embarrassing. He eventually complies. :D
